The trio of electric companies working on siting a new transmission line from Ellendale, N.D., to Big Stone City, S.D., called the Big Stone South to Ellendale project (BSSE), published their preferred route on the BSSE website in a post dated June 4.
Utility companies are studying and taking comments on routes for a proposed transmission line that would run about 150 to 175 miles between proposed substations in Big Stone City, S.D., and Ellendale, N.D.
A map compiled by the Center for Rural Affairs shows new and proposed electric transmission lines designed to take wind power from the plains where it is generated to the Midwestern cities where it will be used.
