Faulk County Community Enhancement focuses on five areas

Faulkton area residents who have been involved in a regional community enhancement effort gathered Monday, March 25 for a six-hour followup meeting.
This program is sponsored through a Bush Foundation grant. Faulk County is one of two groups in the three-state region of South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota to be awarded grant money from the Bush Foundation; the other is Prairie Vision of the Brown County area. The grant application was initiated by the Faulkton Area Development Board. The board members serve on focus groups with others from the various Faulk County communities who have signed on.

“I wasn’t quite there yet, and I didn’t quite make it,” he said.

Grant to help address housing issues

The check comes from Dakota Resources as a part of the Home Address grant obtained by the Faulkton Development Board to help deal with housing issues in Faulk County.

A rooster checked in at the office of the Faulk County Record on Thursday, Feb. 28. Kurt Holt came into the office with the news and Garrick Moritz quickly grabbed a camera to snap a few photos before the bird decided that the Record’s roof would be a safer place to hide than the sidewalk.

EMT pilot internet training course going well

A few months back, the Director of Nursing at the Faulkton Area Medical Center and the director of the Faulk County Ambulance Service, Tom Hericks, began a program to get EMT certification courses available to be taken over the internet.

Faulkton educator addresses violent video games and their consequences

Recently, we had the opportunity as an elementary staff to view a presentation entitled “Love and Logic” by Dr. Charles Fay.
Dr. Fay is a psychologist who works with parents and educators on managing challenging behaviors in children. One of the topics Dr. Fay covers in his presentations is kids’ love of video games.

Faulkton principal looks to reduce athletes’ travel

Faulkton High School Principal Craig Cassens addressed increased travel distance for student athletes beginning next year, now that Frederick/Hecla will not be part of their football conference.
