Cool weather expected to stay awhile

The latest update to the August climate outlook was released this week, with a forecast of cooler than average temperatures for most of South Dakota. Rainfall forecasts show no clear leaning toward wetter, drier or near normal for the next month, said Laura Edwards, SDSU Extension Climate Field Specialist.

Waubay apiarist as busy as his bees

Farmers markets sprout, take root

Communities across the nation, including dozens in the Dakotas, are joining in a growing nationwide trend of forming markets with a very short farmer-to-consumer transportation system: goods go straight from the farmer’s hands to the consumer’s.

South Dakota Community Foundation Awards $15,000 to Dakota Resources

The South Dakota Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Dakota Resources has been awarded a $15,000 grant to assist with their Rural Housing Collaborative (RHC). This grant was presented through the South Dakota Community Foundation’s statewide grant program.

Opt out may be in Faulkton School’s future

The Board of the Faulkton Area Schools met on July 8. The biggest topic of discussion was the consideration of a general fund opting out as soon as the 2015 fiscal year.
