The LaMoure County Commissioners opened bids at the March 5 meeting for the rental of 150 acres of county-owned land. After the bidding was done, they had rented out that 150 acres for $11,500.
The bid opening took place at 10:30 a.m. with Dustin Peterson bidding against Jerome and Gretchen Barnick. The written bids from the two parties were $6,800 from Peterson and $7,500 from Barnick. The bidders were then allowed to increase their bids in $500 intervals.
After a very quick bidding process, the Barnicks came out with the highest bid of $11,500 per year for the three-year contract.
The commissioners accepted the highest bid. Peterson had rented the land for $7,800 per year for the last three years.
