We want to make this BIG, folks. We’re aiming to make the 2017 Dakotafire Go Local Directory as comprehensive a list of local businesses in the Dakotas as possible.
And to help us reach that goal, we’re inviting locally-owned businesses in certain towns to sign up for their directory listing each week. If it’s your town’s week, you get a 20 percent discount for anything beyond the basic listing!

Help us put your town on the map!
If you know of a business in your community that should be listed, make sure they know about the sale week! They can get listed for just $30—probably the least they’ll spend on a marketing opportunity all year, and it may well end up being the most cost-effective advertising they’ll do all year. The more we work together on this, the better it will be for everyone!

Why is getting it “big” so important?
I’m glad you asked. We want a lot of businesses to be listed because we know that’s the best way to make this effort successful for the local businesses we are aiming to support.
- This directory is an exercise in “coopetition”—the more that shops see that they are in this together with other small businesses, and they work to help one another accordingly, the better they all will do. The more business owners that commit to promoting other shops through the Go Local Directory, the more customers will be encouraged to seek out another shop down the road, and maybe another on the way home—and the more successful it will be for everyone.
- All those listed in the directory will get a stack of them to distribute in their businesses. That means the more advertisers we have, the more distribution locations we have—and the more customers we will reach.
- The more listings we get, the more funds we’ll have to print additional copies and pursue other methods of distribution.
- The more successful this effort is, the more likely we’ll be to try other community-supporting ideas in the future.
