Webster Area Development Corporation (WADC) announced that interim director Melissa Fose will take over as executive director.

Fose was named interim after Nick Fosheim resigned.

She will also assume duties for the Day County Champion Community.

“There are a lot of great things going on and in the works in the Webster area, and I am thrilled to continue being a part of it,” she said.

Fose earned a BA in journalism and mass communications from SDSU. Following graduation, she served as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member at Volunteers of America, Dakotas in Sioux Falls, later accepting a full-time position at the organization.

She was hired in June as a marketing assistant and since then led an employee recruitment initiative, developed content for the website, e-mail newsletter and seven social media accounts besides developing new marketing campaigns/materials.

“With the booming job market in Day County, we needed to enhance our online resources,” she said. “We want local businesses to do well, and doing well includes having a full staff.”

WADC launched a Day County Jobs Facebook page in August and Twitter page in November. These online resources are offered to businesses as a complement to advertising efforts.

“While we continue to be focused on securing new jobs, we are finding that it is necessary to also recruit individuals to fill the 65 positions that are already available,” said Tom Sannes, board president.
