The town of Henry will soon have a new motel of sorts: An old barn refurbished into the Pepper Slough Lodge.

This lodge, which will have 11 rooms that are double and triple occupancy, was moved to Henry July 11. Milbank Movers slowly ambled the large barn down the road more than 20 miles from the Wallace area and even through a corn field to bring it to the town of Henry. Its permanent home is on the road going north of the Henry School.

After the foundation is dry in a couple weeks, the barn will be lowered onto its permanent home.

Co-owned by Tom Wookey, Eddy Rieke and Marty Maciel, the structure measures 65 feet wide, 88 feet long and 34 feet high.

Accommodations for weddings, wedding rehearsals, reunions, anniversary parties and the like are what the trio has in mind for the Pepper Slough Lodge, as well as hunting accommodations this fall. The owners plan to have the lodge open for business on Sept. 1.

Henry, population 267, is located between Clark and Watertown on U.S. Highway 212.
