Career Technical Education Instructor Leland Tjeerdsma logs roughly 70 miles daily, driving between his home near Avon, S.D., to work mornings in the Scotland School District and afternoons in the Tripp-Delmont School District. At the urging of Gov. Dennis Daugaard, the South Dakota House of Representatives will consider Senate Bill 133 March 7, which includes the framework for an incentive program for schools that follow the lead of schools like Scotland and Tripp-Delmont by sharing teachers. Sharing teachers was one of 28 recommendations brought to the governor as a result of the work done by the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Teachers and Students.
