The board of directors of the South Dakota Community Foundation has named Stephanie Judson as the organization’s new President, effective January 16, 2013.

The search for a new President started in October, after Bob Sutton, who had served as President since 2003, announced his plans to leave the organization after the first of the year.

While the position will be new to Judson, she has been with the Foundation since 1997, having most recently served as Administrative Vice President. Judson is a Certified Financial Planner and a Certified Gift Planning Associate and has extensive development experience.

In announcing Judson’s hiring, Al Kurtenbach, Board Chairman, said, “It was extremely important that we found someone who could continue to advance the mission and build on the strengths of the Foundation. Judson’s commitment to the Foundation and her wealth of experience will be great assets to the Foundation as she assumes this new position. Kurtenbach added, “The Foundation has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years, and we are confident that Judson will carry on that momentum.”

Judson looks forward to assuming the role of President. “I am excited and honored to be named Foundation President. I succeed great leaders who have had great vision for this organization, and I look forward to following their example,” Judson said. “I am committed to working with our donors to meet their philanthropic goals, and to serving our grant recipients across the state,” she added.
